Feed Your Baby’s Brain During Pregnancy

It is important to know that the simple act of engagement stimulates your baby’s brain. Your baby’s brain has to process the information and make connections, which literally builds the brain neurologically. This can begin in utero. You can play games with baby to interact with them.
  1. Talk, sing, and read, with baby verbally connecting with your baby is good at age. Babies are can hear at 16 weeks in utero. Interacting with baby increases neural brain connections and helps it to grow. Baby becomes familiar with your voice and the people around you.
  2. Play. Play tag! Poke your belly and wait for baby to poke back! Shine a flashlight on your belly and watch for baby’s response!
  3. Eat healthy foods. Eat Omega 3 rich foods such as a salmon, sardines, chia seeds, flax seeds and walnuts. Fruits and veggies are your friends! Dark produce such as blueberries and dark leafy greens are rich in antioxidants, which protect both you and your baby from tissue damage.
  4. Eat well. Eat clean lean meats and proteins. Organic is best if possible, this way you don’t have additional hormones and antibiotics from the meat in your body. Make sure your meals are balanced and in moderation. Eat small meals throughout the day to keep your blood sugar steady. Avoid fast food, high fat, and low nutrition foods. Abstain from alcohol, marijuana, tobacco and all other illicit substances.
  5. Avoid stress. Stress has a physical impact on your body. Cortisol is a hormone your body releases in stressful times. Prolonged stress can have a negative impact on your baby’s development. Be mindful of cultivating healthy relationships and a supportive group of friends and family. Minimize unnecessary stress in your life.
